The Beijing News reported the six-day event has attracted 48 delegations from six international organizations and 31 countries and regions. They attend not only the expo, but also special forums and a large-scale recruitment fair.
During the high-tech expo, highlights will include intelligent robots and machinery fish on display. Meanwhile, some 50 high-tech products made by university students, such as solar batteries and other products from daily life will be showcased.
Seminars will be held to discuss Beijing's economic development for the post-Olympic period and how to apply advanced technologies to manage cities.
The public can visit the expo for free from May 25 to 29.
Statistics show 3,535 contracts and agreements have been signed since the China Beijing International High-tech Expo began nine years ago.
